GOMBAK, 24 October: Aksara Caklempong 2022 organised by Centre for Arts and Cultural Sustainable Development (CiTRA) IIUM and IIUM Andeka Caklempong aimed to elevate the Caklempong music industry through education institutions in Malaysia.

As highlighted in a closing ceremony held at IIUM Cultural Activity Centre (CAC) on Saturday (22 October), traditional musical instruments like Caklempong should be acknowledged as part of the national heritage.

“By exposing Caklempong to the public and participants, we can rekindle our love for local art and culture,” CiTRA director, Madam Roslimna bt Mohammed Saad, said.

In her closing ceremony speech, Madam Roslimna expressed her hope that the program can become a beginning for participants to continue the legacy of Caklempong in the next generations.

“This is also in line with the third and fifth cores of the National Culture Policy (DAKEN) 2021 namely preservation and conservation of cultural heritage as well as cultural empowerment,” she added.
