GOMBAK – “You must assume a bigger role in society and offer a very progressive view of human development,” the IIUM Rector, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, shared the message at the fourth session of IIUM’s 38th Convocation Ceremony that witnessed the conferment of bachelor’s degree to 500 graduands from the AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS) yesterday (5 December).
“As graduates who master various degrees in various fields of religion and who studied the secret treasures of the Quran better than any other graduates, your role becomes greater compared to others,” he said.
The Rector emphasised that Islamic studies’ graduates will become the point of reference to others in the various matters of life.
“Therefore, it is essential for you to be bold enough and stand up for what you believe is right not only to Muslims but all mankind,” he explained.
He stated in the past four decades, IIUM managed to leave a significant impact on both at the Islamic and international levels with IIUM Alumni proudly carrying the flag of IIUM and Malaysia.
“You are joining them in building a greater legacy for this university and Islam that will benefit the society we all belong to,” the IIUM Rector said.
“Four members of the new cabinet are IIUM Alumni and that is a testimony in itself.” He further added that IIUM graduates are important in leading and transforming this nation to the best of its capacity.
He assured that the university will continue holding its role as the catalyst for change, transformation, and creating a positive impact on society.
According to Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dzulkifli, IIUM serves as a platform for Muslims all around the world to benefit from the principle of mercy to all beings.
The Rector concluded by conveying the university’s utmost appreciation to the convocation ceremony committee who have been working hard organising this event to celebrate the success of IIUM graduates.***
